In Tuesday’s unanimous decision at the NFL Owner’s Meeting in Phoenix, all 32 NFL owners voted yes to allowing the Jacksonville Jaguars to relocate to Orlando for the 2027 season, playing at a revamped Camping World Stadium.
After more than a year of uncertainty, Jacksonville Jaguars fans finally have their answer. With EverBank Stadium construction currently underway, NFL owners unanimously voted
to send the Jaguars to Orlando’s Camping World Stadium for the 2027 season, ending a bidding process that saw both Orlando and Gainesville compete for the right to host. Camping World Stadium, home of the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games, is currently undergoing $400 million in upgrades that began in early February, making it a legitimate NFL-ready destination by 2027.
The $400 million renovation to Camping World Stadium will reshape the venue from the outside in. Capacity will expand from 62,000 to 65,000 seats, while the exterior façade will receive a full redesign. Inside, fans can expect new concessions, restaurant areas, and a terrace level addition, alongside modernized stadium infrastructure and systems. Improvements to concourses and restrooms round out an upgrade package designed to bring the Orlando venue firmly into the modern NFL era. Orange County also reportedly sweetened the deal with an additional incentive package to help attract the Jaguars, via Jonathan Lundy of News4Jax.com:
In April, Orange County commissioners voted 6-1 to approve investing millions of dollars to attract WWE, UFC, and the Jaguars to Central Florida. A decision on where the Jaguars would play in 2027 was expected in May, but it is now delayed to October. Orange County’s bid includes $10 million paid to the Jaguars and an additional $500,000 for up to two home playoff games.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (IE: ‘The Swamp’), home of the University of Florida Gators was the other potential site in the running.
The temporary relocation serves a straightforward purpose, keeping the Jaguars’ $1.4 billion “Stadium of the Future” renovation in Jacksonville on schedule and uninterrupted. For the Jacksonville faithful, the move to Orlando isn’t as disruptive as it might sound on the surface. Camping World Stadium’s expanded 65,000-seat capacity sits just below EverBank Stadium’s current NFL game maximum of 67,838, meaning the atmosphere won’t feel dramatically different in the stands.
The drive from EverBank Stadium to Camping World Stadium clocks in at just over two hours via I-95 to I-4, a mostly straightforward highway trip that deposits fans right near downtown Orlando. For a fanbase that has traveled to road games across the league, a two-hour drive down the interstate to watch their team play is a manageable ask for a single season.
It’s officially official, BigCatCountry! The Jaguars are Orlando bound for 2027 while the Stadium of the Future takes shape back home. Are you making the drive? Let us know in the comments.
