The Washington Wizards have held “some conversations” with DeMar DeRozan, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday.
ESPN reported that DeRozan, 36, has drawn interest from the Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers
in free agency.
The veteran forward averaged 18.4 points per game across 77 games with the Sacramento Kings last season. He spent his previous years with the Toronto Raptors, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls.
DeRozan is a savvy veteran known for his mid-range scoring prowess. His 26,711 career points rank 16th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
The Wizards have one remaining roster spot and roughly $11.5 million in luxury tax space. They also own the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception, which is valued at roughly $15 million, to offer a free agent.
