Rutgers guard Jamicheal Davis confirmed his return to the Scarlet Knights via a post made by the team’s official X/Twitter account.
“Im excited to be back, play for my fourth and final year. You know, it means a lot in today’s era, you know, and I am big on loyalty. Go RU and let’s work.”
The 6-foot-2, Chattanooga product appeared in 97 of the last 98 games for the Knights. He has 43
total starts as well.
Davis has seen more and more playing time per game throughout his college career. This past season, Davis started 22 games and averaged 26.2 minutes per game. In that time, he averaged 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 40.2 percent on all field goals, 35.8 percent from three, and 77.5 percent on all free throws. He posted a season high 21 points during the teams Players Era Tournament game against Notre Dame.
With all of the departures, Rutgers will lean on Davis a lot this upcoming year as he has the most familiarity with Pikiell’s system and will have to play a role in teaching it to the incoming players. On top of that, he will most likely be one of the lead guys running the point and facilitating the offense like he was last season. Davis was one of the most effective players on the team at taking care of the ball, as averaged less than one turnover per game last season.
According to 247sports, he will be first player that started and will finish their full career at Rutgers since Caleb McConnell was in a Rutgers uniform.
