On Radio Marca, several analysts openly questioned Dani Carvajal’s current level and future with Spain.
Pipi Estrada was direct:
“It has become clear that Carvajal is not ready to play. We are not retiring him, but he finishes the season and goes to play with his brother-in-law. Is he ready to play against Víctor Muñoz? Do you think Carvajal is going to the World Cup at this level? ”
Javier Tintó added: “Arbeloa plays Carvajal so that Víctor Muñoz tears him apart. Carvajal knows he is not 100%… and
is he thinking about Madrid or about the national team?”
Nacho Labarga said:
“Play him against Getafe or against Real Sociedad, but not against Osasuna. It is very complicated for this Carvajal to go to the World Cup and be a starter at this Real Madrid. Madrid needed a leader and captain like him, even if physically he is not well. Right now, he cannot be a starter in important matches.”
Ferran Martínez echoed that view:
“At this level, Carvajal has to take the national team out of his head. He has to think about Madrid. This full-back cannot go to the World Cup. Look what Víctor Muñoz did to him…”
Emilio Pérez de Rozas suggested:
“Arbeloa played Carvajal to end the debate.”
Pepe Pasqués questioned the reasoning:
“Is Carvajal playing because he knocked on the door or because he is 100% fit?”
