It’s another week of the Mountain West Recruiting Roundup.
While recruiting never stops, it’s definitely on the back burner for teams as they focus on their upcoming seasons at the end of this month.
Five total offers and two total commits is a slow week to be sure, but there are some points of interest here:
- Hawaii was the most active team, pulling in two new commits and handing out two of the five offers, despite being of the teams to play first, with a game this coming Saturday.
- Four of the five offers were junior college players.
While that could merely be a coincidence, it could also point to something else. Why do teams bring in junior college players? Often, it’s because they need to bring in players with game experience
who are ready to take snaps the following season. One potential reason for JUCO offers is that teams are wrapping up fall camp and assessing their rosters. Thinking ahead to next season, they may be concluding that a position is short on depth for a future season and will need to inject talent that can step into a role immediately next year. It’s a theory anyway.
Since the Rainbow Warriors have the new commits, they take the cover photo.

Recruiting Calendar:
For the rest of the summer, we will be in a dead period. The most restrictive of all the recruiting periods, no face-to-face contact of any kind is allowed. As always, coaches can still talk to recruits via phone, text, email, or DM.
Next College Student Athlete says:
The most restrictive of all the recruiting periods is the NCAA Dead Period. During the dead period, coaches may not have any in-person contact with recruits and/or their parents. In other words, coaches are not allowed to talk to recruits at their college campus, the athlete’s school, an athletic camp or even the grocery store.
While the term “dead period” makes it seem like all recruiting stops during this time, that’s actually not the case. Athletes and coaches are still allowed to communicate via phone, email, social media and other digital communication channels. While NCAA Division 1 programs are prohibited from conducting any in-person recruiting, D1 college coaches can still contact student-athletes via digital forms of communication during the dead period.
Air Force Commitment Tracker:
Since the Air Force Academy regularly has by far the most commits among Mountain West recruiting classes, it’s fun to track them over the course of the year.
Number of Falcon verbal commits: 36

K Hudson Borsari (Hawaii)
“The brotherhood at UH runs deep. The culture, tradition, and people there bring the program to life. Being from Gorman, I know a good number of people there. I’m great friends with starting QB Micah Alejado and am close with the captains on the defense in Elijah Palmer and Jamih Otis. Also, our starting QB at Gorman, Maika Eugenio, who I’m extremely close with, is committed as well. The coaches all care and they are ranked first in many special team categories in the Mountain West. For me, I want to be a part of something great and Hawaii is on their way to that. The coaches and team all have a vision in mind and I want to be a part of it. I only started kicking last summer, after spending my entire football career as a wide receiver. The coaches like how quickly I have progressed. After numerous injuries in my freshman year, sophomore year, and junior year spring ball, I talked with my head coach and the team needed a kicker. It made sense to try and make a switch. After doing that, I made huge improvements and had an amazing junior year kicking. They think that the sky is the limit for me, and I love the fact they have so much faith in me and believe in my ability. They want someone who will develop their schemes and programs. They think I will fit right in and work with what they have going on. Also, their current kicker is a senior, so it makes sense to commit to have a good shot at playing time in my first year.”

“Hawaii has always been a top program that I have wanted to be a part of. They have strong academics, as well as a supportive community with a ton of culture has always been very important to me. Their program is competitive while still providing an environment that will challenge me and allow me to grow. UH’s program is known for utilizing their slot receivers. To be given confirmation that I am ready to compete in their program today, is a huge compliment and I can’t wait to be a part of it!“
