Bayern Munich’s whirlwind transfer saga finally came to an end on deadline day, resulting in the acquisition of 24-year old Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea FC.
Chelsea’s starting striker, Liam Delap, was injured in the club’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, causing the Londoners to reconsider the deal in case Jackson was needed back in the Premier League.
After a number of twists and turns, Bayern closed the loan with an obligation to buy clause if Jackson plays a certain amount of games
or minutes. According to Sky (via @iMiaSanMia), here are the additional details of the potential purchase next summer.
If the option/obligation to buy is triggered next summer:
• Bayern will pay a fee of €65m
• 5-year contract until 2031
• Chelsea have a sell-on clause
• Salary: up to €14m gross per year including all bonuses
This would represent a big increase in Jackson’s salary and secure his personal finances through the rest of his twenties. This move must assume that Harry Kane will leave next summer and the successor needs to already be in the locker room.
