Kentucky Football’s coaching staff under Will Stein continues to come together, and another familiar name is expected to be added to the mix in the secondary. James Gibson is slated to join the Wildcats and work with the nickel position as the staff continues to take shape in Lexington, according to Brandon Howard.
Gibson is expected to make the move alongside Jay Bateman, following him from Texas A&M. While Kentucky has not formally announced the hire, signs point clearly in that direction.
Gibson
recently updated his social media to reflect a role with Kentucky, and his bio has already been removed from Texas A&M’s official website. He spent the last two seasons in College Station as a defensive analyst, where he was involved in film study, game planning, and player development at the SEC level.
Before transitioning into coaching, Gibson played collegiately at Army, where his professional relationship with Bateman first began. That connection has continued to influence his coaching path and provides continuity within Kentucky’s defensive staff as it takes shape.
