Bayern Munich defender Jonathan Tah had a scuffle in the game with Chelsea FC striker Joao Pedro. It was a hotly contested event as both sides were not very happy with the referee’s decision. The yellow card shown to Jonathan Tah did not satisfy the opposition’s manager Enzo Maresca. He received a yellow card himself as he protested vehemently, demanding the ref to send off the Bayern defender. Tah on the other hand has denied any wrongdoing on his part(as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
For anyone who missed it, in the 28th minute there was a clash between Jonathan Tah and Joao Pedro. As Cole Palmer looked to runaway on the counter, Tah had to quickly switch from marking Pedro to backtracking to the Bayern box. Pedro however, slyly pulled Tah’s shirt preventing the defender from getting back. The big German was in no mood for games as he shoved Pedro, dropping him to the floor. Tah too, seemed to have lost his balance and stumbled to the ground. As a result, Chelsea gained a 4 vs 3 man advantage at the box as Cole Palmer scored for the Blues.
Adding to the drama was the digital veil of the incident. As Cole Palmer with the ball was under the focus of the cameras, this incident was not shown on the streams. Who do you side with, the red corner or the blue corner of the ring ?
Bayern Munich hosted Chelsea in one of the most intriguing matchups on the second round of Matchday 1 in the Champions League’s League Phase.
The Bavarians were able to tough out a rugged 3-1 victory in a match that was not all that pleasing to the eye. Harry Kane’s brace and an own goal from Chelsea paced Bayern Munich. While Chelsea did some good things (including a terrific first half counterattack for a goal), the Londoners did not have enough gas in the tank to keep up with the German powerhouse.
