The Texas Longhorns are dealing with an unexpected injury with junior running back Quintrevion Wisner not dressed for pregame warmups prior to kickoff against the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Wisner will not play against the Spartans.
With Wisner out, expect a significant workload for sophomore Jerrick Gibson and redshirt freshman Christian Clark, the co-backups on Saturday’s depth chart. Gibson had 78 carries for 377 yards and four touchdowns in 2024,
including opportunities early in the season as the Longhorns dealt with injuries at the position, including the Achilles tear that sidelined Clark for his true freshman season.
Wisner notched 16 carries for 80 yards in the season opener against Ohio State, supplemented by 10 carries for 40 yards for redshirt sophomore running back CJ Baxter in his return from injury.
Texas may also be without sophomore defensive tackle Alex January, who was not dressed for warmups.
