The New England Patriots left their win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night with several injury questions. On Tuesday, Mike Vrabel shared some answers with the public.
As the Patriots’ head coach announced during a press conference at Gillette Stadium, running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Kayshon Boutte and left guard Jared Wilson are all in concussion protocol.
Henderson, 23, left Sunday’s game in the second quarter after he fell over backwards to end a short run. He was checked out
on the field by members of the Patriots’ medical staff as well as Vrabel himself, and after a brief stint in. the blue medical tent left the field for the locker room. Originally announced as questionable to return, he was ruled out for the remainder of the contest at the. half.
Boutte, 23, came down hard on a near-reception in the fourth quarter. The third-year receiver, who should have drawn a pass interference flag on the play, tried to haul in a Drake Maye deep pass with cornerback Marlon Humphrey draped all over him. While he did get his hands on it, he failed to compete the catch and in the process of doing so hit his head on the turf. He too was unable to finish the game.
Wilson, 22, played all 74 offensive snaps against Baltimore at his usual spot at left guard and did not showcase any concussion symptoms during the game. Just last week versus the Buffalo Bills, the rookie returned from an ankle injury that had kept him out since early in Week 12 against Cincinnati.
The Patriots will hold their first practice of the week on Wednesday. They will travel to New York to take on the Jets this Sunday for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
