Junior guards Olivia Olson and Syla Swords were named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team by both the coaches and media.
Olson, a reigning AP All-American third-teamer, was a unanimous selection. She was the only unanimous selection by both the coaches and media. The other coaches’ unanimous selection was USC’s JuJu Watkins, the Preseason Player of the Year, and the media’s unanimous selection was Ohio State guard Jaloni Cambridge.
Both Olson and Swords were named to the All-Big Ten first-team last season,
along with the Fort Worth 3 All-Region Team in the NCAA Tournament. Olson averaged 18.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 31.2 minutes per game, while Swords averaged a slash line of 14.6/4.2/2.4/1.6 in 33.9 minutes per game.
Swords and Olson have both eclipsed the 1,000-point career milestone, with Olson as the third-fastest in Michigan program history to reach the mark. The duo have been consistent starters since their freshman season and will be paramount parts of the Wolverines’ 2026-27 campaign.
The Wolverines and the Trojans were the only two schools with multiple players on the preseason All-Big Ten team. The 10 honorees also include Illinois forward Berry Wallace, Iowa center Ava Heiden, Maryland guard Oluchi Okananwa, Nebraska guard Britt Prince, USC guard Jazzy Davidson and Washington guard Sayvia Sellers.
