Ohio State is now 2-1 following a dominant 59-3 win over Kent State. While the game was never close, Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff have plenty of things to still improve on with this team.
Many of the headlines surround the Buckeyes will focus on how the team can continue to get better as the margin of error is minimal after losing to Texas in Week 2.
Ohio State was able to get back on track with this past Saturday’s game against the Golden Flashes, and with it being a home game the Buckeyes
were also able to get recruits back on campus for visits. While the game may not have been the most exciting, the weekend visits are already paying dividends.
One of the more important recruits to visit with Ohio State last week was 2027 three-star running back Jordan Hall (Cincinnati, OH / Princeton) who took an official visit with the Buckeyes. Hall is one of the remaining priority targets for Ohio State in this year’s recruiting cycle.
After Ohio State missed on its biggest target in the 2027 cycle, five-star RB David Gabriel Georges who committed to Tennessee over the Buckeyes, the coaching staff had to quickly identify a replacement back it wanted. Hall was one of the first names to jump to the top of their board at the position.
Despite being committed to Miami (OH), Ohio State vastly increased its contact with Hall and began to make him feel like a priority. Hall also received offers from Maryland, Penn State, Cincinnati, Wake Forest and UCONN following his commitment to the Redhawks, and shortly after his recruitment started blowing up, he decommitted from Miami.
Ohio State quickly became viewed as the favorites and took it one step further Saturday, getting him on campus for an official visit.
The visit was not his first to Ohio State but getting him back to Columbus in an official capacity was critical in Ohio State’s chances to land him. It appears to have worked out, as Steve Wiltfong of On3 cast an official prediction for Hall in Ohio State’s favor before the game even kicked off.
Hall has not set a commitment date, so there is still time for him to spur the Buckeyes in favor of another team. While there certainly are no guarantees in college football recruiting, it seems like the smoke is leading to fire in Hall’s recruitment.
Hall is the No. 60 RB in the 247Sports Composite and he is the No. 848 national recruit. He is also the No. 32 recruit out of Ohio.
