With the opportunity to make another statement against their biggest domestic rivals, Bayern will need their biggest players to deliver when it matters most.
But who is going to be the difference-maker?
Harry Kane is always a safe bet. The Englishman has made a habit of tormenting Bundesliga defenses, and Dortmund
will have their hands full trying to keep him quiet. Michael Olise could also be the man to steal the show, particularly if he finds space to work his magic in the final third.
Then there are the midfield possibilities. Tom Bischof has been enjoying some impressive performances and could have another opportunity to make his mark, while Joshua Kimmich’s expected return would provide Bayern Munich with a massive boost. Aleksandar Pavlović is another intriguing candidate if he can dictate the tempo and win the midfield battle.
Further up the pitch, Ismael Saibari could provide an unexpected attacking spark, while Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl offer different qualities that could cause Borussia Dortmund problems. At the other end, Dayot Upamecano could make his presence felt with a commanding defensive performance, and perhaps even a contribution on the scoresheet.
There are plenty of candidates, but Der Klassiker is the kind of occasion where heroes are made. Bayern Munich needs someone to step up, take responsibility, and deliver a performance that the BVB faithful will not forget anytime soon.
