What is the story about?

There are not many superlatives left to describe Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane, who has been setting scoring records for fun with the German Rekordmeister ever since moving from Tottenham in the summer of 2023. The England skipper became the quickest player ever to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, won the Torjägerkanone in each of his first three seasons with Bayern, and scored an unprecedented 61 goals from 51 matches last season on the way to Bayern’s domestic double and coming ever so close

to reaching the Champions League final in Budapest.

Kane has also been doing it in an England shirt. He’s the country’s record goal scorer and tallied six goals and one assist at the World Cup on the way to the Three Lions best-ever finish (third) at the tournament since winning it in 1966. During this international break, he’s scored four goals in England’s UEFA Nations League matches against Spain, Czechia, and Croatia, and there’s still one match to go. He could very easily take his total England goals tally into the 90 mark before the break concludes, as he currently has 89 international goals to his name.

Bayern and England’s number 9 is also on the verge of reaching yet another milestone for his country. He is one appearance away from equaling Peter Shilton’s record of 125 appearances for the Three Lions throughout his career (Transfermarkt via @iMiaSanMia). Kane is on 124 appearances and is fully expected to reach 125 when England hosts Czechia at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Thomas Tuchel stressed earlier on in the international break that Kane has a desire to start and play as much as possible for England, as opposed to getting any sort of rest for what many consider to be glorified friendlies. Nonetheless, assuming Kane plays against Czechia at Wembley and is fit for next month’s international break, he’ll become England’s most capped player.
