The Golden State Warriors will face the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 6:00 PM PT in Phoenix and can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State dropped its second straight game on Sunday night, losing 136–131 to the Portland Trail Blazers. Despite a dominant 48-point performance from Steph Curry, the Warriors were unable to close the game after being outscored 40–32 in the fourth quarter. Portland was led by Jerami Grant and Shaedon Sharpe, who scored 35 points apiece, while Deni Avdija added 26 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
What to watch for tonight:
The Warriors enter Thursday’s matchup looking to bounce back against the Suns. Golden State should have most of its rotation available, with Pat Spencer and Al Horford listed as the only players ruled out.
Earlier this week, head coach Steve Kerr said he plans to stick with the same starting lineup of Curry, Moses Moody, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Quinten Post in an effort to build some consistency moving forward (Golden State has used nine different starting lineups over the past nine games).
While all five starters scored in double figures against Portland, Curry still needed more help offensively. Butler finished as the team’s second-leading scorer with 16 points, but much of that production came at the free-throw line (10-of-11). Against the Suns tonight, expect the Warriors to emphasize a more aggressive offensive approach from Butler — something that could play a key role in snapping their current slump.
