The National Football League is back, and it’s never been better.
But we’re not going to let ESPN rain on our parade, especially when Thursday’s game that kicks off the season is on… Peacock?! Alright, well, at least Friday’s game in São Paulo isn’t on Netflix or some other streaming service…
I give up.
Being a sports fan in 2025 is such a headache, and if you’re someone circumventing the stress through certain avenues and backchannels, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before the Feds come for your
supplier, too.
Here at Pride of Detroit, we’re ignoring the black clouds rolling in and focusing on the sunny days ahead. Our staff has made their picks for not only Thursday night’s tilt, but the entire slate of Week 1 games.
As we have done in past seasons, our staff will be making weekly predictions for every game on the NFL schedule. Each of the Pride of Detroit staff will pick the moneyline (winner of the game, no spread), but some of the members will also pick against the spread and even the over/under lines—there’s an easy-to-use toggle button in the widget below to cycle through the settings and in the week’s ahead, check out our records when it comes to making picks. You can also check out all of the odds for this week’s games courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.
Thursday night’s game, as previously mentioned, is between the Micah-less Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles—those division rivals will meet on NBC/Peacock at 8:20 p.m. ET Friday’s game is another showdown between divisional opponents when the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers face off on YouTube at 8 p.m. from Corinthians Arena in Brazil.
On Sunday, the NFL has 13 games scheduled, and the local Detroit audience will have two games to choose from in the early 1 p.m. slot: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Jets on CBS, while FOX will be broadcasting another Week 1 NFC East matchup with the New York Giants traveling to D.C. to take on the Washington Commanders. At 4:25 p.m., CBS will have a second offering—and the main course—with the Detroit Lions taking on the Green Bay Packers from Lamborghinibeau Field.
ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” is another clash between NFC North foes: the Minnesota Vikings head toward Lake Michigan for an 8:15 p.m. contest with Ben Johnson’s Chicago Bears.
Here is who our staff is picking on the moneyline, spread, and over/under for all 16 games on the NFL Week 1 schedule:
