A Pro Bowl, All-Pro votes, 72 tackles, 0.5 sacks and an interception. These are all statistics that Seattle Seahawks star cornerback Devon Witherspoon totaled in the 2025 season while leading a defense to a Super Bowl victory.
However, he is not one of the NFL’s Top 100 players, at least not according to a survey completed by his peers. No, the third-year man out of Illinois narrowly missed making the list, being ranked at 107 behind several stars, according to the NFL.
Witherspoon fell behind players
like Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud and new San Francisco 49ers wideout Mike Evans. Not to mention the players who actually made the list, like Seahawks’ legend Bobby Wagner (81), who is currently a free agent, and Eagles corner Quinyon Mitchell (47).
For whatever reason, NFL Top 100 survey ballots start after Thanksgiving of the previous season and players often submit them after the Super Bowl.
Witherspoon has proven to be an x-factor in Mike Macdonald’s defense, with his speed and tackling ability elevating the Seahawks anytime he’s on the field. This game-changing ability was on full display in the Seahawks’ Super Bowl against the New England Patriots, in which he recorded one sack, one pass defensed, four tackles and a strip of Drake Maye, which was caught by Uchenna Nwosu for the game-sealing touchdown in the fourth.
With Witherspoon’s snub, there remains only one Seahawks player on the NFL Top 100 list after over half the list has been revealed. Ernest Jones IV, the team’s impeccable linebacker, just barely cracked the list at No. 97 after a 126-tackle and five-interception season
There are only 39 players on the list yet to be revealed, and it’s safe to assume at least a few more of Seattle’s stars will make the list, including Leonard Williams and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The list will continue to be revealed weekly until Sept. 4, when undoubtedly we will have far more to complain about than this list.
