The Carolina Hurricanes (25-14-3) are back home and will take on the Dallas Stars (25-9-8) tonight at the Lenovo Center.
The Canes are coming off a solid win in New Jersey. They are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games but still sit in first place in the Metropolitan Division. They are one point behind Detroit for first in the East, with two games in hand.
Tonight will mark the return of Mikko Rantanen, the highly sought after trade acquisition that the Hurricanes front office was unable to sign after they
traded for him.
For one reason or another, the forward did not want to sign in Raleigh. (girlfriend didn’t like it here?) One famous Rod Brind’Amour quote:
“He told me there were four teams he would play for in the NHL and we were not one of them”.
It will be interesting to see the reception that the modest player gets tonight. He currently leads his team with 57 points in 41 games.
Dallas is one of the top teams in the league but they are currently riding a five game losing streak.

Jake Oettinger will most likely be in net.
The home team got some good news at the morning skate. Seth Jarvis was skating and it looks like he will draw back into action tonight.
Walt Ruff reported that Brandon Bussi was in the starter’s crease so look for him tonight.
The lines looked like the following:
It will be another test tonight.
