Indiana men’s basketball, on the heels of what could be a season-defining win over rival Purdue last night, got more good news this afternoon.
Trevor Manhertz, a 4-star small forward in the class of 2027
out of Christ School in Cary, North Carolina, announced his commitment to Indiana at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Additionally, he’ll be reclassifying to the class of 2026 and join the program as a freshman next season, per Sam Kayser of League Ready. He’ll join Indiana’s incoming class of 4-star guard Prince-Alexander Moody and fellow 4-star wing Vaughn Karvala.
Darian DeVries has prioritized small forwards as Indiana’s head coach, mainly those that can shoot. Indiana has played Lamar Wilkerson at the wing for much of this season but Nick Dorn, who plays more like a traditional wing, has stepped into that role due to injury issues and has excelled in the Hoosiers’ past two games.
It’s evident that Indiana is seeking a foundation to build on with DeVries’ first freshman class and I wouldn’t be surprised to see further additions from the high school or international ranks.
