Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has praised Ronald Araujo following his move from Barcelona to Anfield on a season-long loan.
The Uruguyan defender has made a good first impression on Merseyside and caught the eye in midweek with a backheel assist in the Champions League.
Iraola says the move from La Liga to the Premier League has helped Araujo shine for the Reds.
“Ronald is used to playing big games, playing in Champions League, fighting for titles and playing for a big club. For him the bigger challenge
is the language, he doesn’t speak English,” he told reporters.
“But he has good help inside the changing room. This change mentally has helped him a lot. He had a lot of years at Barca and needed this kind of change.
“It helps that performance wise he has been playing very well. It’s difficult to come into the game as a centre-back from the bench but did a good job against Newcastle and Forest. When he’s had a position to start in maybe not his main position, he has done well.”
Araujo has played at center-back and right-back so far for Liverpool and will hope to keep his place in the starting XI for Saturday’s home game against Fulham.
