Glover Teixeira still has hands.
The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion battered fellow Brazilian legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua across eight rounds last night (Sat., Aug. 29, 2026) in the Spaten Fight Night 3 main event inside Estadio do Pacaembu in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Both UFC legends were making their professional boxing debuts.
Teixeira immediately took control, backing Rua against the ropes and unloading combinations to the head and body. “Shogun” attempted to answer
with looping haymakers, but he struggled to land anything that slowed down his longtime friend.
The 46-year-old Teixeira scored the fight’s lone knockdown early, sending Rua stumbling backward before he eventually fell to the canvas. Rua beat the count and survived, but Teixeira continued to punish him for the remainder of the eight-round contest.
Rua had a few moments when Teixeira slowed down in the fifth round, but he found his second wind and reestablished his jab. He nearly secured the finish with another late barrage in the seventh, but Rua once again survived.
After the final bell, Teixeira earned a lopsided unanimous decision with scores of 79-72, 79-72 and 80-71.

Rua indicated beforehand that Saturday’s fight would likely be his final combat sports appearance, and for everyone’s sake, let’s hope that he sticks with that. “Shogun” retired from mixed martial arts at UFC 283 in Jan. 2023.
Teixeira, however, left the door open for another boxing match — so expect Jake Paul to call him out soon.
