What the Jets are getting:
A gritty, hard-nosed wideout who fought and grinded his way to being his team’s top wideout on a run to the National Championship after three seasons playing in a backup
or rotational role. Cooper came up with the catch of the year in his team’s narrow victory over Penn State during the regular season, and that play itself is just an encapsulation of what he brings to an NFL team. The 6’0 receiver plays above himself with a feisty mentality that is shown in the way he fights through tackles and maximizes his touches. While not a prototypical WR1 at the next level, Cooper will most certainly provide a team with a fun WR2/3 who has a chance to outplay his spot on the depth chart.
Strengths
- Plays bigger than his measurables with consistent high-pointing and claws for YAC
- Grinded through three years of being a backup to be the team’s leading receiver in their run to the National Championship
- Elite production with 20 touchdowns over final two seasons (14 total in 2025)
- Threatens through initial stem to keep cornerbacks on their heels
Weakness
- Does not exhibit the want-to as a run blocker
- Less-than-ideal acceleration out of breaks
- Does not adjust to underthrows well
