BCB After Dark is the place for you to talk baseball, music, movies, or anything else you need to get off your chest, as long as it is within the rules of the site. The late-nighters
are encouraged to get the party started, but everyone else is invited to join in as you wake up the next morning and into the afternoon.
Last night I asked you how many games did you think that “The Jaguar,” rookie outfielder Kevin Alcántara, would play in the majors in 2026. You were not very optimistic about Alcántara’s short-term future, as 30 percent of you thought he’d only get in between 20 and 39 games. Another 27 percent thought it would be between 40 and 59 games.
On Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, I don’t normally do any movie stuff although you still have a few hours left to vote in the BCB Winter Science Fiction Classic between Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan an Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Or maybe you don’t depending on when you read this. But it’s Mardi Gras so you know we can’t let the day go by without music.
Starting our celebration of New Orleans music tonight, we have Trombone Shorty playing “Hurricane Season.” Ironically, Mr. Shorty is playing the trumpet in this video. This is 2011.
Next, we have Dr. John playing the classic New Orleans tune “Iko Iko.” This is from 1995.
Here’s the Preservation Hall Jazz Band playing the Professor Longhair classic “Go to Mardi Gras” in 2015.
And finally, we have the immortal Louis Armstrong playing “When the Saints Go Marching In.” It doesn’t seem like it would be Mardi Gras without it.

The Cubs announced their promotional schedule earlier today and like I do every year, I immediately check out what bobbleheads they are giving away. Because bobbleheads are cool.
