For those who do not know and have never heard him speak, Michael Olise is English. Despite playing for German team Bayern Munich and representing France on the international level, if you have heard him speak, you know he is a Londoner at heart. Born in the capital of England, Olise has gone on a remarkable journey and through many academies on his way from England to Bavaria.
Speaking to news company Highsnobiety ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Olise detailed his journey through so many academies:
“I started at six years old at my local team in West London,” he revealed, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Then maybe Islington for a bit. Chelsea from seven until fourteen. A little time at [Manchester] City. Reading for three years, where I broke through. [Crystal] Palace for another three years. Now Bayern. It has been football my whole life.”
Somehow, this quiet kid from England ended up in Munich. What are the odds, eh?
