Football might not be on many fans’ minds this week, but a major SEC road game is taking place for the Kentucky Wildcats this Saturday as they head to The Plains to face the Auburn Tigers.
In what seems
like a game in which both coaches are on the hot seat, a win for the Cats could bring a lot of positive momentum and put that SEC losing streak to rest. However, they will be looking to do that and might be shorthanded once again.
In tonight’s initial injury report for the week, all of the BBN’s eyes turned to starting running back, Seth McGowan. After sitting out last week, McGowan enters the end of this week with a probable designation, so he should give it a go. Although Jason Patterson has thrived in his reps since the injury, McGowan’s burst could be incredibly useful against a solid Auburn run defense.
Meanwhile, DJ Waller and Terhyon Nichols are listed as doubtful, so two of Kentucky’s top three cornerbacks could be out.
Starting wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin is questionable, as is backup linebacker Landyn Watson.
For the Tigers, the big question mark coming into the first injury report was standout wide receiver Cam Coleman, who was injured in last Saturday’s win over Arkansas. The sophomore has 69 career catches for 1,038 yards and 11 touchdowns in 19 career games with the Tigers.
On the team’s first injury report, Coleman is listed as questionable, so he’s very iffy to play Saturday night.
Another key Auburn receiver, Malcolm Simmons, is also questionable to play.
Backup running back Durell Robinson, who’s been out since Week 2 due to injury, is expected to play against Kentucky. Robinson, who had over 800 yards from scrimmage at UConn last year, is no longer on the injury report, so he’s good to go.
Sparsely used backups Connor Gibbs and Jourdin Crawford are questionable to play.
