This season of Dana White’s Contender Series was one of the best ones ever, but it doesn’t sound like it was good enough to stretch out the schedule in the near future.
Tuesday night’s Week 10 episode was the final event of Contender Series Season 10 (results HERE). Surprisingly, it was one of the weakest cards of the season, but still delivered fun fights for fans looking for some mid-week violence. An additional four contracts were handed out and the season was put to bed.
Despite the success of
the show — including Paramount+ ratings and the type of talent being signed — White has no plans to extend the length of future seasons. The show itself will obviously be back next year for Season 11, but it will still be 10 weeks. This might disappoint a ton of fight fans who enjoy watching fights on Tuesday night and seeing who the next big star could be, but apparently a 10-week schedule is already too much for UFC’s production team.
Check it out below and let us know if you think it’s worth extending the upcoming seasons of Contender Series!
“Things in life are still messed up from COVID,” said White during Tuesday’s post-event press conference (watch HERE). “The talent pool isn’t as deep as it would have been if COVID didn’t happen.
“Maybe a couple of seasons from now we could extend it and make it longer, but I think, right now, we’re at our limit on what we can do with The Contender.”
