The Los Angeles Chargers have just added a number of rookies to their roster, but there are already people within the organization with their sights on what the team will look for in the 2027 NFL Draft.
While it remains to be seen where the team will be picking in the first round, the Chargers should be excited about the top-heavy, stacked rookie class that’s coming into the league next year.
SB Nation contributor James Dator conducted a recent mock draft of the 2027 class where Oregon defensive lineman
A’Mauri Washington was chosen with the No. 21 overall pick.
Washington, who is entering his senior season with the Ducks, recorded 33 tackles in 15 games for the 2025 campaign. He recorded 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks throughout the season.
The Chargers currently have a veteran defensive line in Teair Tart and Dalvin Tomlinson, both of whom will be north of 30 going into the 2027 season. Adding some youth into the mix should be the direction the Chargers go in.
However, there is reason to believe the Chargers could also target a younger defensive lineman in free agency or a trade between now and next April.
BFTB community, what do you think of the possibility of adding Washington to the defensive line? Is there another player from next year’s class that would also be worth discovering? Let your thoughts be made clear in the comment section below.
