Summer signing Dominik Livakovic made his Barcelona debut on Saturday night
as Hansi Flick’s side beat Sevilla 3-1 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.Livakovic got the nod over Wojciech Szczęsny in goal, with Joan Garcia ruled out with a knee injury, and had a good first outing with his new team.
Speaking after the match, Livakovic spoke about the game and how he’s been settling into life at the Camp Nou.
“We’ve had a perfect start to the season and we have to keep it up. There was a good talk at halftime
and the team responded in the best way. We showed it on the pitch. Congratulations to Raphinha, who scored an incredible hat-trick,” he said.
“From day one I’ve had Dani Olmo. I played with him at Dinamo Zagreb six or seven years ago. It’s been easy because they’re all young guys and it’s like a family. It’s very easy to adapt here. The goalkeeping coach, Joan, and Tek are also fantastic guys. Tek talked to me a lot today, as did the coach. They’ve made my job easy.”
Hansi Flick also spoke about his decision to start Livakovic and said he just felt it was the right call.
“That was my feeling. I spoke with the staff and that’s what we decided. It doesn’t mean I don’t trust Tek,” he explained.
“Today I just had that feeling, that he should play. It’s for this match. It’s not personal, it’s about the team. It’s a complicated situation for me. I have to manage these things. Gavi isn’t playing either…”
