Prior to the win against the Florida Panthers earlier in the week, there was a special conversation between friends that aired ESPN. Erik Johnson, now an analyst with the network, visited Colorado Avalanche
captain Gabe Landeskog at his home for a one-on-one interview.
The two covered a variety of topics including the Captain’s near three-year injury recovery, Colorado’s blazing hot start this season and the ultimate memory of winning the Stanley Cup together in 2022.
Johnson mentions how back then in 2022 it was discussed and they predetermined that he would get to lift the Stanley Cup after Landeskog and then asks Gabe if he’s decided who would get the honors in 2026 should Colorado win a championship again. The ever diplomatic Landeskog says he’d have to think about it but concedes that it’s probably going to defenseman Brent Burns who has waited 22 years. Sound familiar?…
What would be your hypothetical order to pass the Cup? Let us know in the comments!
