What is the story about?
Mariners pitching honored Randy Johnson and the Mariners offense honored Felix last night in the worst game of the year (so far). Salvaging a game in this series against the Royals would feel like a minor miracle, but the M’s will try anyway at 1:10 PST.
Happy Sunday everybody!
In Mariners news…
- This line resulting in a loss is a truly a one-of-a-kind experience that only the Seattle Mariners are capable of providing.
- You want to see general soreness, come watch me stand up straight after five (5) minutes in a seated position.
- Lest it be lost in the shuffle of an unfortunate baseball game, yesterday was truly about the greatness of Randy Johnson, and the Mariners confirmed that starting some time in 2027 there will be a permanent reminder of that greatness affixed to the stadium.
Around the league…
- The Baltimore Orioles announced yesterday that they added top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to their taxi squad and will be called up tomorrow to make his MLB debut against the Yankees in the Bronx.
- Former Mariners super-utility man Dylan Moore was DFA’d by the Phillies yesterday following the activation of catcher JT Realmuto from the 10-day IL.
- In other former Mariners news, as a little present for his 30th birthday, the Mets awarded backup catcher Luis Torrens with a two-year, $11.5 million contract extension, a move that will surely fix all of the Mets’ problems.
- Yo, I heard you like news about former Mariners so I got some more news about a former Mariner. Lockdown Tigers reliever Will Vest went on the 15-day IL yesterday due to inflammation in his forearm.
- Look, they can’t all be about former Mariners alright? You can’t expect that of me. I don’t make the news, I just report on it.
