It was almost a year ago we learned Becky Lynch had landed a role on Paramount Plus’ newest Star Trek show, Starfleet Academy. The news came from a much humbler Rebecca Quin, then enjoying her time off in between WWE contracts.
We haven’t heard much more about Lynch’s role on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, but we have learned that the show will be set in the 32nd century of Trek’s “prime timeline” (in Trekkie kayfabe, the main where Bill Shatner was James T. Kirk in the second half of the 2200s). It
focuses on the first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century, who are enrolled at the Academy run by Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter’s character, Nahla Ake.
The cast will also include familiar faces from past Trek shows, and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti and Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany in recurring roles. The two-time WWE Women’s Intercontinental champion is listed as a guest star, which likely means her bridge crew member is only in one episode of the new season, which premieres Jan. 16.
As the headline told you, we got our first look at Lynch in character today (Nov. 25) via Collider. She’s not wearing a red shirt, so maybe she survives for a possible return appearance? That look makes us think Bex’s vessel is headed for trouble, though…
