The Pittsburgh Steelers brought back fan-favorite linebacker Elandon Roberts following their win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Roberts was signed in the middle of the preseason, and put together quality performances against the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills to close exhibition play. Many expected him to be a lock to make the roster, but he was one of the bigger surprise cuts from around the league. He remained unsigned through the first five weeks of the season, and says that he doesn’t harbor any sort
of ill will towards the Steelers for releasing him.
“I wouldn’t have came back if I was uncomfortable,” Roberts said via Brooke Pryor. “I know a lot of people feel a way. It’s a business at the end of the day. I kind of went through something personal that I would’ve had to step away from the team for anyway to take care of that. So that’s why I say everything happened for a reason, and I’m always trying to be the best version of myself.”
Roberts joins a linebacking group that could use a bump. Pittsburgh ranks in the top 10 in terms of missed tackles. And while they also rank near the top of the league in stuffed runs, adding a tried-and-true run stuffer is never a bad idea.
