As the Golden State Warriors wrap up their road trip, they make one final stop in Salt Lake City for Monday night’s matchup against the Utah Jazz. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM PT and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
The Warriors made things interesting in their most recent game, a 104–97 Saturday night loss against the Oklahoma
City Thunder. The undermanned Golden State squad held its own for much of the night, competing on both ends of the floor. However, they struggled to establish an offensive rhythm, shooting just 40.9 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from three.
The biggest difference, however, came at the free-throw line. Golden State shot just 11-of-18 (61.1%) from the line, while Oklahoma City converted 23-of-24 (95.8%). Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander accounted for more than half of those attempts, finishing 14-of-15 from the line on his way to 27 points, including a late three-pointer that sealed the win in the fourth quarter.
What to watch for tonight:
The Warriors begin a road-home back-to-back with Monday’s matchup against the Jazz, which could lead to several players resting as part of the team’s season-long load management approach.
For example, while Kristaps Porzingis returned to the lineup Saturday after missing six games — finishing with nine points against the Thunder — the team has indicated he will sit the front end of the back-to-back and return for Tuesday’s home game against the Chicago Bulls. Veterans such as Al Horford and Moses Moody are also listed as out.
Having said that, Golden State could get a boost with the return of Seth Curry, who has appeared in just two games with the team and hasn’t played since a December 4 matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. In his brief time on the floor, Curry looked like a natural fit within the Warriors’ offense, and his return would provide another perimeter threat for a team built around pace and outside shooting as it continues working toward full strength.
