As Chicago Bears fans, we have seen the crazy amount of attention (largely negative) that our quarterback, Caleb Williams, receives.
We mostly take it in stride because we know how ridiculous most (all?) of the comments are and how they simply are not grounded in reality.
We all know what happens on Sunday. Caleb Williams goes down on a non-contact injury; he yells out in pain or frustration (or both) and is helped to the sidelines before he is taken on a cart to the locker room.
The losers and frauds
just couldn’t wait to jump all over this one.
We have former NFL player Emmanuel Acho (who can’t get hired by a network) desperately looking for attention on social media, screaming out that you can’t take the cart because carts are only for career-ending injuries.
You have Will Compton, who had two seasons in the league when he wasn’t at the bottom of the roster, who literally tweets this:
Hopefully he’s kidding, but this was on the heels of him ripping Caleb Williams for yelling about a hamstring injury so who the hell knows?
You have the clowns at Barstool, led by Dave Portnoy, insinuating that Caleb Williams is some sort of soft, girly man (who might be gay).
You have clowns like Peter Bukowski piling on.
Here’s a quick message to all of you (and all the anonymous posters on social media too cowardly to put their actual name next to a post): Shut up, Losers.
Shut. Up. Losers.
Seriously, enough with your toxic masculinity BS.
All of you saw that Caleb Williams had painted nails at USC in 2023, and you made up your mind about him. You decided he was a diva. You decided he was too weird for the NFL. You decided that only a gay person would paint his nails.
You embraced your homophobia, and you’ve let it run rampant for years.
Now you can go away. Nobody needs to hear from you.
There’s a reason that Acho can’t keep a job. Nobody wants to be associated with his takes. That’s why all he has is an independent YouTube show. I feel bad for his brother Sam, who was one of the classiest people who has ever walked through Halas Hall, and his brother is soiling his name.
Former players like Compton deciding how a player should react after an injury is just sad, attention-seeking behavior. It’s embarrassing for them. Sadly, they are too dense to realize it is.
Suddenly, one of the most sacked QBs ever in 2024, who didn’t miss a snap, by the way, isn’t tough enough for you?
This cart take is hilariously stupid.
Anyone want to tell Dave Portnoy about the time Rob Gronkowski injured his knee, was taken off on a cart, only to miss one game. ONE GAME! Gronk is clearly a girly man. He’s not tough at all.
Sorry to bring up a bad memory, but does anyone want to remind Bukowski about the time that Aaron Rodgers got knocked out in the first half by the Chicago Bears in 2018, was taken off on a cart, and he returned to the game and brought the Packers back to a victory?
Jaxson Dart was carted off the field and stood on the sidelines the entire second half in this past game on Monday Night Football. I know he’s going to be out a few weeks, but was his use of the cart acceptable?
Is the cart only for career-ending injuries and broken limbs? How about you say more dumb things that show you only played 20 games in the league and clearly know nothing about it?
These people are desperate to find their confirmation bias. It’s pretty pathetic. Some of them have tried to walk it back. Some of them have doubled down. All of them are fools.
I remember a man who was in the public eye. This man painted his nails. This man dyed his hair. This man wore women’s clothing. This man hinted that he might be bisexual. This man regularly went to gay clubs, drag queen shows, and embraced the entire LGBTQ+ community. He was an athlete. He was a prominent athlete. He was considered the ultimate badass.
His name was Dennis Rodman.
These same toxic jerks that want to crush Caleb for having a pink phone cover, painting his nails, or not handling the injury the “right way” are the same ones that thought Rodman was just being Rodman and was fun and awesome.
It’s an embarrassing double standard.
And the keyboard warriors on social media, probably the same ones that think children are using kitty litter in school bathrooms, are questioning Caleb Williams’ toughness. The same 30- or 40-something that turn into a 5-year-old child when they get the sniffles and call their Mommy to come over and bring them soup.
All of them just expose themselves for who they are.
All of this has been an incredibly stupid topic driven by incredibly stupid people.
In closing, Jarrett Payton said it best, “Get my quarterback’s name out of your damn mouth.”
Well said.
