Ryan Flournoy got to play in 16 games with four starts in 2025. He delivered 40 receptions for 475 yards and scored four touchdowns, with 29 of his catches being for first downs. Undoubtedly, Flournoy established himself as the WR3 for the Dallas Cowboys behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
In the NFL, you can’t just ball out once. There has to be consistency. So, it was important that once the Cowboys got to Oxnard for training camp that Flournoy continued to show progression, especially with a bigger
role in the offense on the horizon. He’s gotten off to a very good start during the first week, but Thursday he stood out.
Rookie safety Caleb Downs has looked every bit like a first-round pick as he’s been all over the field. However, being it’s his first camp, growing pains are expected, and Flournoy gave him just that in one-on-one drills. He did a great job luring Downs to sleep to get the proper release before catching a quick out route.
The highlight play for Flournoy came during the team period. Dak Prescott rolled out to his right and threw on the run, and Flournoy made a nice grab while sliding on the ground. This showed great body control and concentration on his part, and also trust from Prescott that he doesn’t have to throw a perfect pass for Flournoy to make plays (the throw was still a good one). Flournoy was also seen making plays on crossing routes during the team period, and he took some reps returning punts along with Downs and KaVontae Turpin.
What we’ve seen from Flournoy is continued growth from his performance a year ago. Now, he has expectations to be an even bigger contributor, and from the looks of things, he is poised for a breakout season, which will elevate an already potent offensive attack in Dallas.
With Lamb and Pickens doing their thing, it puts a ton of stress on the opposing defense, which gives Flournoy plenty of opportunities to produce in one-on-one situations. Plus, at 6’1″ and around 205-210 pounds, he can be a power slot receiver that can make it difficult for nickel corners to cover him with his size and athleticism.
The thing now is for Flournoy to keep stacking good days in camp and get to the regular season healthy. Is Flournoy the best candidate for a Cowboys breakout season? Or do you have another player in mind?
