The New Orleans Saints hoped the signing of Noah Fant could provide another reliable option in the passing game.
Through three games, Fant is beginning to show just how valuable he can be to this offense.
Fant delivered his best performance of the season in Sunday’s 35-27 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, finishing with four receptions for 33 yards and two touchdowns.
According to Pro Football Focus, Fant earned an impressive 89.3 overall offensive grade, while his 90.1 receiving grade was a team-high.
Fant may not receive the most attention in the Saints’ passing game, but his ability to make plays when his number is called gives the offense another weapon to work with. He has the athleticism and experience to create mismatches, particularly in the red zone, and Sunday’s performance provided a glimpse of what that could look like in New Orleans.
One strong game does not necessarily signal that this will be the usual, but Fant is showing signs that he can become a meaningful part of the Saints’ offense.
If he can continue producing at a similar level, New Orleans could have another reliable weapon emerging at tight end just when the offense needs it most. Because after Sunday, it looks like the Saints could have one of the top TE tandems in the league with Juwan Johnson and Fant.
