Wrestling fans are calling out WWE over the possible use of AI after a visible production error.
During AAA’s first show on Fox in Mexico on Saturday, a short video featuring Dominik Mysterio aired. In
the video, Mysterio claimed he was the reason for AAA’s success. The same video also appeared on AAA and WWE’s YouTube channels, where Mysterio called himself “The King of the Luchadores.”
Around the 1:03 mark, an image of Mysterio with the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the AAA Mega Championship appeared on screen. However, the title around his waist briefly displayed the AEW logo instead of AAA’s.
The image went viral on social media, with some fans accusing WWE of using AI to create the video.
“This is why you don’t use AI. Not that they’ll learn,” wrote one fan on X.
The video, which featured animated versions of real footage, furthered Mysterio’s heel persona while introducing him to potentially new viewers. How much value the animations added to the show in place of actual footage is debatable.
WWE faced criticism in October after reports surfaced saying the company was using AI for videos, graphics, and possibly even story ideas. Fightful reported that WWE has had AI software for years but has rarely used it, mostly relying on it to organize production tasks and remove background noise from certain scenes.
