The Eagles first round pick has been mocked many different ways in the days leading up to the NFL Draft, but many expected Howie Roseman to try and trade up for an offensive lineman — specifically for Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor.
Proctor was someone the team considered a next man up for both Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata — who are often injured — and is someone who could learn behind Johnson until the veteran retired. The best made plans, however, because the Miami Dolphins made a surprising pick for the offensive
tackle at No. 12 overall.
The Dolphins actually traded back one spot with the Dallas Cowboys, and still managed to get the third OT of the night. The first tackle drafted was Utah’s Spencer Fano at No. 9 to the Browns, followed by Miami’s Francis Mauigoa at No. 10 to the Giants.
Eagles beat reporter Jeff McLane suggested Monroe Freeling is still an available option, but the team may have to adjust their big board and decide whether to trade up or sit back and take another position.
