The Minnesota Golden Gophers are sending a pair of women’s golfers to the Ann Arbor Regional that kicks off on Monday morning. Senior Bella McCauley and junior Maria Mesones both will try and earn their way into the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships in Carlsbad, Calif., May 22-27.
The pair of Golden Gophers will join competitors from 12 teams and four other individuals in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the University of Michigan Golf Course. The three-day event will consist of 54 holes of stroke
play; 18 holes per day. The top four teams from each site and the top two individuals not on an advancing team will go on to advance to the NCAA Championships.
This is the fourth consecutive season that McCauley has qualified for a NCAA Regional. She advanced to the NCAA Championships both her freshman and sophomore seasons with a career best 77th place finish in 2023. Mesones will be making her second NCAA Regional appearance after finishing 37th in the Westfield Regional in 2023.
McCauley and Mesones will be facing golfers from USC, Duke, Central Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Northwestern, Kansas, Texas Tech, UNLV, Columbia, Quinnipiac, and Oakland as well as the four other individuals in Trinity Beth (Georgia), Alexis Vakasiuola (Grand Canyon), Lauren Sung (Michigan), and Yanah Rolston (IU Indy).
McCauley and Mesones will tee off in the same group on Monday with an 8:50 central tee time off of hole #1.
