Back in May, we learned that running back Adrian Peterson would be the newest inductee into the Minnesota Vikings’ Ring of Honor during the 2026 NFL season. Now, we know exactly when that enshrinement will take place.
The team has announced that Peterson’s Ring of Honor induction ceremony will take place at halftime of the team’s Monday Night Football contest against the Buffalo Bills on 9 November. You can set that one in stone, because it’s a Week 9 matchup and Monday Night Football contests can’t
be flexed out until Week 12, per league rules.
Peterson, who is also in his first year of eligibility for Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement this year and should be a no-brainer, first-ballot lock, holds pretty much every meaningful Vikings rushing record and is fifth in NFL history with 14,918 career rushing yards. It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since the last time he carried the ball as a Viking, but his last season with the team came in 2016, when he battled injuries and appeared in just three games.
Peterson is one of two Vikings to score more than 100 touchdowns as a member of the Vikings, as he found the end zone 102 times while wearing purple (97 rushing touchdowns, five receiving touchdowns). He also remains the last non-quarterback to be named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, having won the award for his incredible 2012 season where he nearly set the single-season NFL rushing record just one-year removed from tearing his ACL.
As we mentioned, Peterson should be getting the call to Canton this coming January, but the Vikings are going to get him into the Ring of Honor first, and now we know exactly when that’s going to happen.
