Win, lose or draw, it is my cruel fate to select an MVP — Most Valuable ‘Phin — from each contest the Dolphins slog their way through this season, so Week Five, despite the embarrassment and shame that
goes along with a defeat like the one Miami suffered against the Carolina Panthers, will be no different.
The outcome wasn’t what anyone hoped for, but there were some positive individual performances to find solace in.
Miami Dolphins Week Five MVP – Jaylen Waddle
After Tyreek Hill’s devastating knee injury that he suffered on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets, many wondered if Jaylen Waddle would be able to replicate the production that The Cheetah had given Miami for the past few seasons.
Well, in his first opportunity to shine without Hill, Waddle dominated the competition — nabbing six balls for 110 yards and a gorgeous 46-yard touchdown grab late in the fourth quarter that should have given the Dolphins the game-winning score if it weren’t for an egregious collapse from Miami’s ruinous defense.
Jaylen Waddle will need to continue to turn in performances like the one he had on Sunday if the Dolphins hope to keep games close this season — let alone collect another win or two.
There are plenty of folks to blame for Miami’s loss on Sunday, but Waddle isn’t one of them.
