After trailing for most of their Sunday night matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, the Ravens secured a come-from-behind victory thanks to some late-game heroics on both sides of the ball. Here are the Baltimore Beatdown staff’s reactions to a thrilling 30-23 Ravens’ win in Week 5.
Wow. I barely gave the Ravens a fighting chance in this game. I saw a path with limiting the Falcons to field goals and not turning the ball, but I figured eventually, Bijan Robinson and Atlanta’s new high powered offense
would get them. Instead, the defense stood up, only allowed one touchdown all game, kept Robinson under 100 yards, and sealed the game with an interception.
Despite rocky play and failing to seize moments multiple times by Huntley and the offense in the middle of the game, they showed up when it mattered. Their last two drives to tie the game and get the overtime score were masterful. Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Tez Walker took over when they needed it. Now the Ravens will get Lamar Jackson, Trey Hendrickson, and Ja’Kobi Lane back soon while the defense continues to get better. — Zach Canter
Somehow, someway, the Ravens walked into Atlanta and took down a red-hot Falcons team without Lamar Jackson. Things looked shaky at certain points in this one, but Baltimore stuck to Derrick Henry while Tyler Huntley delivered when it mattered most. The defense had issues getting stops on third down, but was otherwise strong against a previously humming Atlanta offense, and when a play was needed to win the game, Kyle Hamilton stepped up with the interception in overtime. Baltimore moves to the top of the AFC North now with a chance of Jackson returning next week for their first divisional game against the Browns. You cannot overstate just how impressive and important this win is for this team. Jesse Minter and Declan Doyle deserve a ton of credit. — Dustin Cox
With the odds stacked against them, and their star QB out, the Ravens gutted out an incredible win against the red-hot Atlanta Falcons. The Ravens looked like the better team for most of the night but, a few costly mistakes put them in a hole late in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, Tyler Huntley was able to lead the Ravens down the field for the tie, 2pt conversion, and win in overtime. Huntley was largely ineffective tonight but showed up when it mattered. Defensively the Ravens were largely impressive, only allowing 17 points. Some of the 3rd down mistakes and missed tackle issues reared their head, but they stepped up when they needed to. With Jackson still healing from his injury, the Ravens are now at 4-1 a-top the AFC North. More importantly, we’ve seen some resilience from these Ravens over the last few games that just wasn’t there in prior years. — Stephen Bopst
This was a huge confidence-building win for the Ravens. For most of the game, they appeared destined to come up short largely due to some poor execution in timely moments. However, with their backs against the wall, Tyler Huntley and the starting offense delivered in a huge way. Huntley’s composure over the final two drives and the contributions from an array of playmakers was impressive. For a backup quarterback in a big spot on the road, Huntley’s performance late was nothing short of clutch. Jesse Minter’s defense locked in late as well and Kyle Hamilton’s game-sealing interception was a fitting cherry on top. Minter and the coaching staff put together a sound gameplan that, if not some notable offensive miscues (dropped balls, fumble returned for a touchdown), may have resulted in a more convincing victory. — Frank Platko
