Jon Moxley leads the Death Riders with an iron fist. That’s why it is so surprising to see a change in his demeanor when recruiting Kris Statlander.
Last week, Statlander won $100,000 as the prize of the money match four-way. It was unexpected to see Moxley approach her with pride for her success. He offered genuine support.
This week, Statlander still hadn’t collected her cash. The problem was that the sum came out of the Young Bucks’ salary, but funds were insufficient. Harley Cameron took a shot entering the jobber locker room to ask for Statlander’s money. That occurred behind closed doors, so we don’t know what happened. Harley came back with an answer that the $100,000 would be available next week. Statlander was dubious. Moxley overheard the conversation. He entered the locker room to speak with the Bucks. Moxley returned with a fat envelope full of green.
Moxley seems like a good dude in those scenes. Being that he was the top villain for so long, we have to question if there are ulterior motives. Mox is smart enough to realize that brute force will scare Statlander away. That is part of what makes it interesting to see the recruitment story evolve over time. It is also funny to imagine Moxley threaten the Bucks to cough up the cash, like a scene in a gangster movie.
