Earlier this week, we published our latest SB Nation Reacts survey, sponsored by the folks at FanDuel Sportsbook, and asked Detroit Lions fans two questions:
- Will the Lions beat the Packers in Week 7? (weekly question)
- Are you confident the Lions are headed in the right direction? (recurring poll)
Confidence polls have been a journey this year. Let’s take a quick look at how things have changed throughout the first six weeks of the season:
- Opening confidence: 89%
- Following OT win over Saints: 63%
- Loss to Bills: 48%
- Win over the Jets: 78%
- Loss in Carolina: 12%
- Win in Arizona: 69%
- Week 6 BYE: 75%
While confidence hasn’t fully returned to its preseason percentage, the optimism has carried over into Lions fans’ game predictions, as a significant number of fans believe the Lions will beat the Packers
this Sunday afternoon:
Let’s take a closer look at the comment section of our original article and The Feed posts to see fans’ explanations for why they voted the way they did (lightly edited for clarity).
Most approved/interacted with “right direction” comments:
- Isnagov: “We are getting key players back and still have an offensive identity. I think we are warming up at the right time in the wildest NFL season I ever seen.”
- T-PaulWorkAccount: “I continue to look at this question as “bigger picture,” and, in that regard, we’re definitely headed in the right direction. We have some serious issues in the defensive secondary this season, but overall direction-wise, we’re doing great.”
- Burton Guster Fan Club: “Anyone who is a consistent no: can you please invite me to your poker night and/or trivia club?”
Most approved/interacted with “Week 7” prediction comments:
- Izzo4Potus: “They absolutely need to. If the pass defense is even reasonable, we will win easily.”
- icd8u2: “We better beat Green Bay; you can’t lose division games at home. Not to mention, aside from the secondary, we are the better team at every position.”
- M-Weezy: “Looking for the “HELL yes” option…not seeing it.”
As a reminder, this survey was sponsored by the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook, which currently has the Lions listed at +1900 to win this year’s Super Bowl and as 3.5-point favorites in Week 7.
Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Detroit Lions fans and fans across the country. If you want to receive these surveys by email weekly, you can sign up here.
