Newcastle United are approaching decision time on Eddie Howe’s future as the manager of the side.
An awful end to the season and a team that cannot escape their never-ending struggles, currently sitting in the very lower half of the Premier League table, simply screams for action.
Howe remains in charge and, seemingly, for some unknown reason to the world, retains support internally, despite growing pressure from outside the club based on pure facts.
The club is expected to undergo a thorough review
of Howe’s results this summer before deciding on his future, but it should take no time to cut ties. And once that’s done, a new, unique, special one candidate could reportedly take over.
“Jose Mourinho has admirers among the Newcastle hierarchy if they part company with Eddie Howe,” talkSPORT reported. “Newcastle’s Saudi owners are believed to be attracted to the idea of appointing a big-name in the event Howe departs.”
The report indicates that Mourinho would be among several candidates considered if a managerial change is made, with former Man City dynasty-kickstarter Roberto Mancini also mentioned as a potential option.
Howe’s position is definitely not under immediate threat, but the situation is awful and hey, better late than never.
