2027 four-star cornerback Blake Jenkins committed to Michigan on Thursday night. With Jenkins joining the Wolverines, here are three things to know about the standout cornerback from Katy, Texas.
A CB with plenty of skills
247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks said that Jenkins owns the “potential to become an island technician.”
Here are other highlights from Brooks’ scouting report of Jenkins.
- Natural man corner with size and athleticism to match up with outside targets.
- Willing tackler with a lean, wiry frame that can add mass to enhance finishing strength.
- Attacks the screen game.
- Displays sudden athleticism in press situations, whether covering short-to-intermediate routes or turning and running downfield.
Jenkins had 26 tackles last season as a junior with two interceptions.
Michigan beat out big SEC teams for Jenkins
Finalists for Jenkins’ recruitment included Vanderbilt, Alabama,
Texas, Houston and SMU. Jenkins was offered by Michigan back in February by new cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford. This is the second four-star prospect Gilford has landed a commitment from in the past month, along with cornerback Darius Johnson on May 18.
Jenkins already loves Ann Arbor
Jenkins told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong the Michigan fanbase is “huge.”
“The way the city supports the football program as a whole no matter who you are really stood out to me,” Jenkins said.
Jenkins visited Michigan in April and posted a picture of his experience on social media.
