It appears the Kentucky Wildcats dodged a major bullet with Jaland Lowe.
When Lowe went down with what appeared to be a shoulder dislocation during Friday’s Blue-White Game, there was immediate concern
he could be out for several months, potentially even the season if there were any torn ligaments.
Thankfully, Lowe’s MRI came back negative for that type of damage, and it turns out that it was just a partial dislocation, according to Larry Vaught.
Vaught also says that Lowe apparently had a fall on the same shoulder during the summer practice season, so this isn’t the first time the junior transfer from Pitt has had this type of issue.
“From what sources told me, the MRI on Lowe’s shoulder was negative,” Vaught wrote. “He had been fine since suffering a fall in June and apparently there’s a chance this could have been related to that fall about four months ago.
“It was not a full dislocation of the shoulder as it did not completely pop out of place and had to be “maneuvered a little bit” to get it back fully in place.
“It’s unlikely Lowe will play against Purdue in Friday’s exhibition game and an exact timetable for his full return will not be known for several days at best.”
So for the time being, it appears Lowe isn’t going to be sidelined for too long, potentially just a couple of weeks. The regular season is just over two weeks away when Kentucky opens the season against Nicholls on November 4.
Kentucky’s first big regular-season test comes on November 11 against the Louisville Cardinals. That may be the date Kentucky and Lowe target for his return, though it would be ideal to get him some minutes the prior week before suiting him up for one of the biggest rivalry games in college sports.
