The Mariners have an opportunity to punch their ticket to the World Series tonight. Seattle returns to Toronto holding a 3-2 lead in the best of seven series. The M’s have never reached the Fall Classic.
The Blue Jays will look to force a Game 7 with a win at the Rogers Centre. The Jays carried a one-run lead into the eighth inning of Game 5, but relievers Brendon Little and Seranthony Domínguez allowed five late runs. Eugenio Suárez smacked one of the biggest hits in Seattle history with a go-ahead Grand Slam.
The Jays will turn to former first-round pick Trey Yesavage to start the game, but every pitcher will have a quick hook tonight. Seattle will counter with right-hander Logan Gilbert. Yesavage allowed five earned runs in four innings last week against Seattle, and Gilbert allowed three runs (two earned) in the same game.
Both teams would face an uphill battle against the Dodgers, but that doesn’t matter right now. Toronto should receive a rush of adrenaline by returning home while facing elimination, but the Mariners hold the momentum after an emotional Game 6.
