Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window of 2026 ended with business done early but just two marquee signings — Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari. Both players are acclimating quickly and playing a variety of roles; left-back Brown popping up in attacking midfield and forward Saibari alternating spelling Harry Kane and the No. 10.
It’s positive on these fronts but two is two: as in, not a lot. A reporter asked Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen on how head coach Vincent Kompany has taken the summer in stride
rather than making greater demands, and this is how that exchange went down (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Reporter: “I can imagine that Thomas Tuchel would’ve said: a third transfer wouldn’t have been bad”
Jan-Christian Dreesen: “[He would’ve said] why only three?”

Boy, it’s just open season on Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich, huh? You can tell just how much the front office ended up not liking the guy. And just between you and me, the feeling’s not so different here, either.
By contrast, Kompany is a company man — keeps his head down, plays well with the bosses, and does his job. And does it well. That last part is key…and perhaps the Bayern head coach might have indeed wanted another body or two to incorporate into what is looking like a fairly thin squad again. If so, he is doing a great job of not making a fuss about it. Which, honestly, is the right way to set the squad’s mindset. And from a fan’s perspective, it sure beats watching a melodrama play out with a coach waging an influence campaign in the press for more transfers.
