It’s the final day of the minor league season!
Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs got drenched by the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 14-3.
Kohl Franklin started and had trouble finding the plate, as 24 of his 47 pitches went for balls. Franklin took the loss after giving up four runs on two hits and four walks over two innings. Franklin struck out one.
The good news was that Riley Martin relieved Franklin for the third inning and was sharp in his first official pitching appearance since April. Martin retired the side in order,
striking out two.
Tyler Santana gave up five runs in two innings, Luis Peralta allowed one run in one and Doug Nikhazy was tagged for four runs in two innings to close out the rout.
Second baseman Ben Cowles got the I-Cubs on the board with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. It was Cowles’ ninth home run this season. Cowles went 1 for 4.
Right fielder Jordan Nwogu doubled in the eighth inning and then scored Iowa’s third and final run on an RBI single by shortstop Jackson Cluff.
Nwogu went 2 for 3 with a double and the walk. He also stole a base.
Cluff was 1 for 3 and was hit by a pitch. He scored on Cowles’ home run.
Left fielder BJ Murray was 2 for 3 with two walks.

The loss snaps Iowa’s five-game win streak.
The Iowa Cubs finished the second half with a record of 33-40. Their overall record was 63-82.
